Press Release Summary: Presents Detailed Vision to Reform City Hall - Refuses To Accept Special Interest Contributions to Remain Influence Free
Press Release Body: San Diego, CA - January 15, 2008 - Businessman and entrepreneur Steve Francis today announced his intention to become the next Mayor of San Diego. In his announcement remarks, Francis highlighted his desire to free San Diego from the grip of special interests and to restore fiscal integrity, ethics and transparency in city government.
Francis, best known as co-founder and Chairman of AMN Healthcare (NYSE:AHS), opened his address by describing important aspects of his background that shape the type of leader he will be as Mayor.
Leading up to his announcement today, Francis met with neighborhood associations, community groups, planning boards and citizens throughout San Diego to listen to their concerns. "The message I received was loud and clear. San Diego wants and needs new leadership. From these meetings, it became clear to me that faith in City Hall has been replaced with a belief that preserving the status quo rules the day," said Mr. Francis.
"For too long lobbyists have controlled City Hall and the politicians have turned a deaf ear to the voices of everyday San Diegans. I will remain free from the influences of special interests by not accepting any political contributions from these groups. By refusing contributions from special interests, San Diegans from all political parties will have confidence that their voices will finally be heard over the lobbyists.
I will bring the best ideas of all political parties forward in a united effort to advance our agenda of change and accountability. I will be an independent Mayor," said Francis.
Francis put forth a detailed set of policy ideas, Steve Francis' Vision for Reforming City Hall, that brings forth new solutions from across the country that will be the foundation for his Administration.
"The opportunity to fight for change at City Hall belongs to each of us. I'm prepared to lead the movement for change because together we can make San Diego great again. Join me in this important mission. San Diego deserves no less," concluded Francis.
